Project background
Part of the Blue Diamond group, 3 Shires features a wide range of inspirational products for home and garden, which include aquatics and artisan foods, as well as a restaurant and coffee shop. Mindful of energy costs and environmental impact, the company was looking for a more efficient heating solution and, having considered a number of options, selected Powrmatic warm air heating, supplied and installed by Arnold Building Systems.
Solution
ABS has supplied LPG-fired NVx warm air heaters and low velocity HCF destratification fans to the 3 Shires Garden Centre in Newent, Gloucestershire, working in partnership with LPG specialist Countrywide.
ABS and Powrmatic carried out a detailed survey and designed a system that uses a combination of four high efficiency NVx warm air heaters and 10 low velocity HCF destratification fans to ensure effective heat distribution throughout the centre. ABS also fabricated special stands for the NVx units in the greenhouse, as they could not be suspended from the roof.
Result
Specified by ABS Ltd of Gloucester, the new system replaces an inefficient oil-fired system and will deliver energy savings of around 30%. The project also involved the replacement of an old oil storage vessel with three bulk storage tanks for LPG, organised and supplied by Countrywide

The workshop heating is provided by two heaters at each end of the workshop, while the showroom heating and stock room heating use one NVx in each space. This is just one of many projects of which ABS, Powrmatic and Countrywide LPG have worked together supplying the heating system and gas supply.
